This Broad is a haven for wildlife, supporting a significant population of common crane as well as important breeding numbers of bittern, bearded tit and Cetti's warbler. In winter large numbers of marsh harriers roost in the reedbed; merlin and hen harrier are also regular. You may also see barn owl, kingfisher, Chinese water deer, red deer and otters. Hickling also supports the UK?s largest butterfly, the swallowtail, and the Norfolk hawker dragonfly.
