The Park consists of 280 acres of woodland, meadows and the Whitlingham Little and Great Broads. The country park was designated a Local Nature Reserve by the Broads Authority in 2009. To qualify for LNR status, a site must be of importance for wildlife, geology, education or public enjoyment. The Park is ideally situated on the outskirts of Norwich but on the edge of the wider Broads. The park lies within the River Yare valley which contains important fen habitats further downstream, and other high quality local nature sites in its vicinity.
