Ramster Hall is a family home just outside Chiddingfold in Surrey. The estate has 20 acres of outstanding gardens, three impressive halls and a courtyard. It is surrounded by 250 acres of farm land with ancient woodland. External Features for filming - Ramster garden is renowned for its collection of rhododendrons and azaleas which burst into colour during the months of April, May and June. The garden provides a perfect spring landscape with snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells, camelias and ancient magnolia trees. Fiery shades of russets and reds can be seen during the autumn months; one of the most colourful highlights is the unique 100-year-old avenue of maples.The 20-acre woodland garden has many notable trees including ones recognised by TROBI (Tree Register of Britain & Ireland). Trees include Eastern Hemlock, the Giant Sequoia, the Grand Fir currently standing at 47m and the prize Japanese Cedar which can reach almost 7,000 years old. The garden has benches, a lake, wooden steps and an ornamental bridge. Hidden sculptures and natural carvings can be found as you explore the grass paths to different areas adding to the fairy tale setting of this magical garden. A long sweeping driveway takes past the family house which has a tower, the iconic ancient oak tree ‘Old Harry’ and then onto the historic halls. During spring the driveway is lined with enormous 40ft high banks of colour. A quintessentially English courtyard full of traditional flowers associated with a country style setting. A visitor café with outside seating area and a large car park. Internal features for filming - The Long Hall was built in 1604 and is over 100 ft long. It has a polished wooden floor and an impressive beamed ceiling and panelling. There is a vast inglenook fireplace. The Great Drawing Room overlooks the courtyard and has dramatic architectural features including a beamed vaulted ceiling and panelled walls. There is even a grand piano. The Brick Hall has a permanent display of historic paintings. This room provides an alternative entrance to the Great Drawing Room. In the main family house. there are beamed corridors and Jacobean style architecture. One of the rooms is beamed and panelled with a traditional four poster bed.
